Trips and falls in the retail environment are one of the leading causes of public compensation claims according to the injuries board of Ireland. A record €65 million was paid out in years 2007 and 2008 with accidents in the retail environment accounting for a staggering 24% of the overall figure.
Compounding these numbers is the latest set of IBI statistics that indicated that trips and falls account for 67% of the overall total injuries awarded from claims.
SSE’s work in the retail child safety industry have helped retailers from the USA to Australia reduce retail liability significantly so that statistics such as these don’t amount into costly compensation payouts. SSE’s solutions such as equipping the common shopping trolleys with a permanent seat belt, with unbreakable and child proof buckles can mean the difference between a costly liability bill and no liability at all.
